India: The Regal of Foodies
India being a diversified country has more than 100 languages and 700 cultures which means the cuisines available here change from area to area and from person to person. India has a number of vast cultures, languages, people, and traditions, and Food being the favorite is a connection for all. All these cultures and traditions are connected by Food, not just dishes.
Here are the most famous and favorite cuisines of India and one must not miss eating them.
- Misal Pav: As the name suggests, it consists of Misal Pav and one can get this dish in the Maharashtra state. Misal is the curry made up of sprouts and the final dish is garnished with onions, sev, lemon, and coriander. People specially in Mumbai, loves to eat Misal Pav in their breakfast before handing it out for their long working days.
- Makki Di Roti and Sarson Da Saag: It is the most famous dish in Punjab and the Sarson Da Saag is made up of mustard greens and served with Makki di roti and unsalted butter or ghee on the top. This dish is one of the few dished which activates all the sensory emotions while enjoying this dish.
- Kosha Mangsho: This is the deliciously made Mutton curry in gravy with vegetables mainly available in West Bengal. Kosha means to cook slow in spices and Mangsho is meat which is cooked at low steam at minimum water to make that perfect gravy. It is one of those dishes that makes its way directly to the heart.
- Dhokla: It is the Gujarat famous dish prepared from fermented batter of rice and split chickpeas. The chutney full of tangy flavors makes this dish more perfect and mouth-watering.
- Rogan Josh: It is a meat dish originating from Kashmir. It can be made with lamb, goat, or mutton perfectly combined with aromatic spices. Rogan Josh is being distinguished by its red, thick, and flavourful gravy.
- Litti Chowkha: It has Uttar Pradesh Origin but has lately famous in Bihar. Litti is a stuffed dough ball made of whole wheat and Chowkha is a mashed curry made of vegetables. It’s famous for its rustic taste and represents the earthiness of Bihar.
- Biryani: Everyone must have come across this dish and one cannot deny that it is one of the yummiest dishes ever made. This is an all-time classic and Hyderabadi Biryani, Dum Biryani is their different names. People consider it as comfort food and can be served on any occasion.
- Appam: It is made up of coconut milk and fermented rice batter shaped like a pancake which is famous in Kerala. It is also a common dish in Sri Lanka country. It is considered the cultural heritage of the city.
- Dal Bhaati Churma: It is the traditional Rajasthani dish. The baati is the hard bread made up of whole wheat flour, ghee, besan, and other seeds. The fun fact is that churma is believed to be invented by an accident.
- Momo: Momos are dumplings with stuffing filled inside that originated from Assam. The stuffings can vary from vegetables to meat and momos can be steamed or fried. There is momo for every mood and every emotion.
- Tunde de Kabab: Also called Buffalo meat galouti mainly famous in the city of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh State. One of the interesting things about this dish is that it is believed that it has incorporated 160 spices.
